INFORMATION & SUPPORT

When do you need a dehumidifier?

When the humidity in the area which you are painting is above 70% and/or if the temperature is below 10°C. Anything above 85% humidity the drying process of the paint will not occur. The dehumidifier also helps jobs have quick turn around times and save the painter waiting for coats to dry.

How does the iQuip dehumidifier work?

An industrial fan draws in 1000m3/hour of air over coils inside the unit. Any moisture in the air condensates and drops into a resivour in the bottom of the unit. Once this has reached capacity an automatic pump activates to pump excess water through a hose out of the painting area.

Why do I need a dehumidifier in winter when it doesn’t feel humid?

Cold air holds less moisture, so it can be close to saturation even when it doesn’t feel humid. Paints need water (or solvent) to evaporate to dry and cure properly. A dehumidifier helps by removing that moisture from the air, speeding up drying times and improving results — even in cold, damp conditions.

Should I run the iQuip dehumidifier while spraying paint or creating dust?

No. While the dehumidifier has a filter, exposure to dust or overspray can impact its performance and shorten its lifespan. Always switch the unit off during spraying, and turn it back on once spraying is finished to help with drying. When not in use, cover the unit with the supplied protective cover to keep it clean.

Should I run the dehumidifier before painting?

Yes — running the unit during prep work helps reduce moisture in the air and surfaces, giving you a head start.
Don't forget to turn the unit off when spraying and slip on the dust cover.
